Abstract Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), which resides in shaded areas avoiding daylight, has developed various adaptation strategies to cope with ultraviolet (UV) stress. In this study, we utilized 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing assess the diversity of bacterial communities within T. following exposure ultraviolet-A and ultraviolet-B for different durations, elucidate role microbiome host response UV This study revealed that irradiation affected relative abundance community castaneum, rather than its species richness. The significant differences were observed Proteobacteria Cyanobacteria, among comparison groups at phylum level. Most genes coded by bacteria annotated on membrane transport, replication repair, amino acid metabolism, energy metabolism carbohydrate reference Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes database. However, identified limited, making it challenging establish a clear relationship between larvae. Consequently, propose viewpoint contributing against stress may have been diminished during their development due low-UV rearing conditions.

This bibliometric and systematic review assesses research progress climate change adaptation strategies to control invasive crop pests in sub-Saharan Africa. Scientific publications on pest management Africa a context of were extracted from papers published between 1991 2024. A literature search was conducted Scopus, dimension, google scholar, followed by screening data extraction compliance with ROSES standards. Findings indicated that such as armyworms, fruit flies coffee berry borer cause huge losses. Communities are adopting integrated management, water harvesting, drip irrigation, resistant varieties, improving production efficiency. Agro-ecological practices reduce invasions while preserving the environment. Meanwhile, chemical insecticide use remains an emergency solution its effects would be more efficient. However, promising approaches emerge around biocontrol, agroforestry integrating gender-tailored strategies. Nevertheless, regional disparities persist scientific output. In conclusion, represent major plant health crisis Africa, this highlights innovative Their development will require coordinated mobilization catalyze sustainable agro-ecological transition needs address these multidimensional challenges. Future should assess farmer’s perception effectiveness existing for pests.

Insects host microbes and interact with them throughout their life cycle. This microbiota is an important, if not essential, partner participating in many aspects of insect physiology. Recent omics studies have contributed to considerable advances the current understanding molecular implications during development. In this review, we present overview knowledge about mechanisms underlying interactions between developing insects microbial companions. The implicated nutrition, both via compensating for metabolic pathways lacking regulating metabolism. Furthermore, plays a protective role, enhancing insect's tolerance to, or resistance against, various environmental stresses.

Abstract The relationship between, and joint selection on, a host its microbes – the holobiont can impact evolutionary ecological outcomes of microbial community. Here we present novel agent-based modelling framework for understanding dynamics hosts their microbiomes. Our model explicitly incorporates numerous generations per generation allowing on both microbe. We apply our to explore community fitness diversity in face rapid environmental change. demonstrate that multiple buffer changes experienced across lifetimes by smoothing transitions. simulations reveal may be at odds with each other when considering vertical inheritance communities from offspring where high values favour fitness, while low these tradeoffs are minimized count is high. suggest results arise ‘cross-generational priority effects’ which maintain within subsequently acted upon selection. readily extensible into new areas research provides insights evolution under variable conditions.
