Abstract The metacommunity theory enhances our understanding of how ecological processes regulate community structure. Yet, unraveling the complexities soil nematode structures across various spatial scales and determining factors influencing these patterns remains challenging. Therefore, we conducted an investigation on metacommunities spanning from north to south in Northeastern China. Our aim was test whether were structured by different drivers under three land covers (i.e., farmland, grassland woodland) at local regional scales. results revealed that Clementsian, Gleasonian their quasi‐structures nematodes collectively accounted for 93% variation These suggest Northeast China responded fluctuations environmental gradients. At scale, primarily shaped biological interactions. heterogeneity, dispersal limitation interactions all contributed metacommunities. Meanwhile, represented within trophic groups, with plant parasites predominant farmlands bacterivores grasslands woodlands. In conclusion, remain stable covers. Biological are widespread among regardless changes This study reveals importance sensitivity environment shaping metacommunities, potentially enhancing

Ecological restoration and biodiversity are currently hot issues of global environmental concern. However, knowledge about the specific impacts duration on understory vegetation diversity remains limited. Therefore, this study comprehensive employed a spatial approach to compare differences in plant species composition among secondary forests with varying ecological ages (0, 10, 30, 60, 90-year-old stands) Huangfu Mountain National Forest Park. This methodology allowed us clarify key factors affecting community investigate regulatory mechanisms influencing changes diversity. The results showed that shrub Shannon’s index value, evenness, herb richness, evenness were significantly affected by years restoration, 10 90 being highest 60 lowest. Substrate was main factor layer. Overstory soil C/N, C, N, bacterial Observed OTUs, Chao1, Pielou_e, substrate drivers had direct effect (0.256) an indirect (0.284) through light availability fungal Simpson’s value. Light directly negatively (−0.360). In addition, 52.6% from arboreal layer availability, To sum up, moderate disturbance environment natural can be carried out after which is more conducive increase provides theoretical basis for formulating measures forests, particularly understanding optimal timing nature process, reassuring audience validity reliability findings.

Mixed stands of tree species with complementary traits can modulate stand growth and timber quality. At the Fengshushan Forest Farm, mixtures Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook.) Liquidambar formosana Hance, Schima superba Gardner & Champ., Elaeocarpus sylvestris (Lour.) Poir., Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl, monoculture were established. Differences in quality among these assessed a test was conducted to evaluate factors influencing mixture effects. The average diameter at breast height, volume, individual annual increment generally exceeded those monocultures but not necessarily broad-leaved monocultures. When net interaction between complementary, overyielding occurred (RPfir,bl > 0), which influenced significantly by density, soil properties, wood production enhanced some species, reduced slenderness knottiness mixtures, notable increases medium- (average outturn rates 56.13%) large-diameter (11.71%) C. lanceolata/C. mixture. are largely promoted when grown mixed species. Overyielding level occurs where compensates for underperformance trees.
