Abstract Interprovincial trade has driven large air pollution flows, accompanied by significant regional environmental‐economic inequalities in China. Past decades have seen the rapid economic development and quality improvement China, but changes interprovincial transfers related are still unclear. Our results show that from 2007 to 2017, Chinese domestic consumption drives national value added rise steadily 2.1 6.8 billion RMB, while corresponding emissions first increase 46.6 Tg 51.2 2012, then fall sharply 29.9 2017. Consumption sector construction contributes most with proportion of contribution increasing during studied decade. Eastern provinces, as beneficiaries, tend see net emission inflows, east‐to‐west transfer is substantially reduced 2/3 2007–2017. In contrast, number Western provinces suffering loss decreased, some even transform into achieving win. Greener production dominant factor flow, resulting alleviated inequalities. For further inequality alleviation we suggest improving responsibility sharing mechanism strengthening cooperation on mitigation.
