The functioning and progress of modern industrial systems are deeply reliant on mineral resources. While mining offers substantial economic social gains, it also imposes notable environmental impacts. In the context global climate change, sustainable ecological restoration in mined areas increasingly connected to carbon sequestration efforts. Enhancing sink capacity processes is crucial for achieving neutrality. This study aims review current research landscape, identify key areas, explore future trends this field. Relevant literature from Web Science was selected, information extracted, co-occurrence networks were mapped analyzed using VOSviewer. Covering publications 2000 present, analysis spans 84 countries regions, 1,184 institutions, 3,757 authors, 858 papers. main include: (1) strategies vegetative areas; (2) vegetation soil (3) mechanisms health (4) role plants microbes pollution remediation; (5) importance water resource management wetland (6) succession biomass accumulation area rehabilitation. highlights major contributors, countries, elucidates hotspots, outlines directions development. By systematically summarizing hotspots work provides a valuable reference researchers seeking navigate advance dynamic
