The production of healthy animal-derived food entails the effective control foodborne pathogens and strategies to mitigate microbial threats during rearing. Antibiotics have been traditionally employed in animal farming manage bacterial infections. However, prohibition antibiotic growth promoters livestock has brought significant changes practices. Although antibiotics are now restricted treating preventing infections, their overuse caused serious public health issues, including resistance presence residues wastewater. Therefore, sustainable is crucial reducing spread antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Annually, 40–50% fruit vegetable discarded worldwide. These discards present potential for extracting value-added ingredients, which can reduce costs, decrease waste, enhance economy. This review highlights negative impacts use stresses importance analyzing challenges safety concerns ingredients from co-products at an industrial scale. It also explores current trends livestock, with a focus on Latin American contexts. Finally, suitability using derived feeds discussed.

The chapter addresses the significance of food traceability in system because, an era where consumers demand transparency supply chain, emerges as a pivotal solution, ensuring safety and quality products. It also draws attention to possible health risks outbreaks that are associated with foods along current challenges combat these outbreaks. Key components farm-to-fork different analysis techniques such high-performance liquid chromatography, Raman spectroscopy, next-generation sequencing, DNA enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay have been proposed trace pathogens pesticide residues ensure quality.

Bananas are one of the most widely consumed fruits in Brazil and across world. However, intensive use pesticides these other crops can negatively impact human animal health due to possibility pesticide residues persisting derived products, even after industrial processing. Therefore, this study evaluated effect thermal processing on degradation azoxystrobin, bifenthrin, difenoconazole, simazine samples caramelized banana jam added peel flour (4% w/w) partial replacement fruit pulp. QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, safe) method gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS) wa used analyze above compounds. Chitosan is a natural biopolymer that industrially produced from chitin via deacetylation. Due to its unique properties and plethora of biological activities, chitosan has found application in diverse areas biomedicine agriculture the food sector. regarded as biosafe, biodegradable, biocompatible compound was demonstrated stimulate plant growth induce general defense response, enhancing resistance various pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, nematodes, viruses. Here, we focus on an antiviral agent for protection. We review both pioneer studies recent research report effect treatment with derivatives viral infection. Special attention paid aspects affect activity chitosan: polymer length and, correspondingly, molecular weight; concentration; deacetylation degree charge; protocol; experimental set-up. Thus, compare reported effects forms well chitosan-based nanomaterials, focusing putative mechanisms underlying chitosan-induced

The intensive use of pesticides contaminates soil and water, raising the risk diseases like cancer hormonal/neurological disorders. continuous exposure to through water food is concerning. Therefore, awareness about biological pest control essential reduce harmful impact on environment. This study evaluates students’ literacy pesticide its implications, focusing three topics, use, disease prevention, sustainability health promotion. Thus, a questionnaire was drawn up distributed students both genders, aged between 12 16 years old, from Alentejo (Portugal). were asked indicate their agreement grade with statements related key themes, such as consumer attitudes, healthy practices cohort includes 1051 students, results suggest that environmental education student are crucial for promoting sustainable resources minimizing pesticides. presents an Artificial Neural Network model, accuracy surpassing 90%, assess implications. It also proposes new approach evaluate potential improvement, which developing educational strategies impacts.
