Gasification of lignocellulosic biomass has been widely highlighted as one the most robust and promising low-carb approaches toward sustainable energy production. The gasification syngas obtained from agro-industrial residues can produce heat, power, biohydrogen, other drop-in biofuels via F-T (Fischer-Tropsch) synthesis. However, tar formation during thermochemical process imposes severe limitations on commercial scale this technology. Tar elimination is a critical step for avoiding damage to equipment not restricting further application syngas. In context, work sheds light field reviews some aspects technologies its reduction removal. dealing with are primary methods, which suppress or remove within gasifier, secondary in post-operation treatment. Catalytic reforming offers cost-effective pathway removing tar. bimetallic combination nickel metals using biochar support have intensely investigated, showing excellent conversion capacity. Recent research provided new trends non-thermal plasma-catalyzed reforming. Future studies should focus integration catalysts multiple techniques improve efficiency reduce consumption.
