The intensification of aquaculture has escalated disease outbreaks and overuse antibiotics, driving the global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) crisis. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) provide a promising alternative due to their rapid, broad-spectrum activity, low AMR risk, additional bioactivities, including immunomodulatory, anticancer, antifouling properties. AMPs derived from aquatic invertebrates, particularly marine-derived, are well-suited for aquaculture, offering enhanced stability in high-salinity environments. This study compiles analyzes data AMP databases over 200 scientific sources, identifying approximately 350 mostly cationic α-helical, across 65 protein families. While vitro assays highlight potential, limited vivo studies hinder practical application. These could serve as feed additives, therapeutic agents, or genetic engineering approaches like CRISPR/Cas9-mediated transgenesis enhance resilience farmed species. Despite challenges such stability, ecological impacts, regulatory hurdles, advancements peptidomimetics hold significant promise. Future research should emphasize refining enhancement techniques, expanding diversity bioactivity profiles, prioritizing comprehensive evaluations. Harnessing potential represents step forward on path sustainability, reducing antibiotic dependency, combating AMR, ultimately safeguarding public health ecosystem resilience.

Infection-related cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) pose a significant health challenge, driving the need for novel therapeutic strategies to target key receptors involved in inflammation and infection. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) show potential disrupt pathogenic processes offer promising approach CVD treatment. This study investigates binding of selected AMPs with critical implicated CVDs, aiming explore their potential. A comprehensive computational was employed assess AMP interactions CVD-related receptors, including ACE2, CRP, MMP9, NLRP3, TLR4. Molecular docking studies identified high affinities these targets, notably Tachystatin, Pleurocidin, Subtilisin A, which showed strong MMP9. Following docking, 100 ns molecular dynamics (MD) simulations confirmed stability AMP-receptor complexes, MM/PBSA calculations provided quantitative insights into energies, underscoring modulate receptor activity infection contexts. The highlights targeting infection-related pathways CVDs. These demonstrate properties models. Future research should focus on vitro vivo confirm efficacy safety, paving way clinical applications managing conditions.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) come from various sources and exhibit unique antimicrobial properties. Their rapid action, effectiveness, resistance to development make them promising alternatives combat antibiotic resistance. In addition its excellent antibacterial properties, AMPs have superior immunomodulatory, antitumor, antiviral activities. recent years, the demand for has continued increase in many fields, especially medical field, prospects are extensive. However, disadvantages of expensive cost, higher hemolysis, short half-life, susceptibility degradation by protein hydrolases, low bioavailability, toxic side effects, other disadvantages, which seriously limit wide application AMPs. Therefore, fewer been approved marketing or undergoing clinical trials. The review covers period 2001 2025 provides a detailed discussion searching databases such as Google Scholar Web Science.
