The Chinese government has taken many measures to improve the environment, such as directly investing in pollution control infrastructure, but effectiveness remains be tested. This paper employs Toda–Yamamoto test and Fourier examine link between environmental governance investment quality China from 2003 2020. PM2.5, which air quality, is used here an indicator of environment. results reveal that notably lessened average concentration PM2.5 certain regions, indicating a positive effect on albeit with regional variations. Taking structural breaks into consideration, relationship amelioration significant smaller number regions. Additionally, cross-sectional correlation further scrutinized assess essential robustness causality two variables. findings lend support aforementioned conclusion. These conclusions provide valuable guidance for China’s policymakers optimizing investments curb achieve sustainable development.

Landscape sustainability (LS) has received widespread attention from both scientists and practitioners in recent decades. However, a systematic review of the trends this field remains scarce. Here, we present bibliometric analysis 715 English papers published SCI journals (i.e., indexed by Web Science) during 2006–2023, whose titles, abstracts, or keywords contain landscape-related terms sustainability-related terms. Specifically, quantitatively analyzed LS literature using variety methods qualitatively full text highly cited seminal to cross-validate findings. We found that: (1) entered exponential growth phase (2013–present) after experiencing incubation (pre–2006) emerging (2006–2013). (2) Early themes focused on landscape change relationship between ecology science, while have shifted towards more sectoral topics, such as ecosystem services human well-being, climate change, urbanization. (3) The closely connected network cross-citations indicates strong communication among LS. participatory solution-oriented research streams not been well integrated into core Our results suggest that evolved rapidly growing discipline with stable scientific community themes. To become well-established discipline, needs further enhance its unique rather than only drawing knowledge other related fields. Constructing social–ecological-centered, pattern theory for should be top priority.

ABSTRACT A proclaimed goal of landscape management is to improve the multifunctionality ecosystem services (ESs) sustain higher levels human wellbeing (HWB). Although enhancement ES often considered lead better HWB, empirical evidence directly supporting this claim remains scarce. This study investigates relationship between and HWB in rapidly urbanizing regions, using Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration China as a case study. We quantified with Gini‐Simpson Diversity Index identified multifunctional types bundle approach. also calculated both mean score evenness improved radar chart method, examining their relationships through Spearman correlation analysis Kruskal–Wallis rank‐sum test. Results showed that (1) exhibited varied indicators, but overall significant negative associations score. (2) Each indicator significantly differed across detected bundles, none bundles highest values all indicators. (3) were generally peri‐urban while lower agriculture forest bundles. Our findings suggest landscapes can provide relatively more balanced urban agglomerations. implies “land‐sharing” development model, which balances natural built environments, may be beneficial for enhancing compared “land‐sparing” where areas are separated.
