Abstract The Salton Sea has experienced significant recession over the past two decades due to changes in diversion of Colorado River water Trough for agricultural irrigation. As a result, wetlands have emerged some exposed playa areas along Sea, primarily regions with extensive return flows and drainage. One notable wetland system, known as Bombay Beach Wetlands, formed on north shore an area devoid agriculture. In many other limited or no agriculture, failed develop, leaving surfaces recedes. These dry pose threat health local residents presence toxins contained windblown dust associated deposits. this study, stable isotope data, combined hydrological information, led identification potential sources Wetlands. first possibility proposes that thermal artesian waters alone contribute wetlands' source, while second hypothesis involves combination drainage from bank storage mixing water. discharges into channels flow towards initially possible groundwater baseflow until reaching wetlands. Studies were subsequently done full reach receiving Dissolved solids content, P N nutrients, arsenic, isotopes tested synoptically channels. Channel investigations development novel model salinization, which is linked channel discharge, morphometrics, incision.
