Microplastics (MPs) have emerged as a significant pollutant, threatening agricultural ecosystem sustainability and global food security. However, relatively few studies investigated biochar remedial effects on plant growth biochemical properties in soils contaminated with MPs. In polyethylene microplastic (PE-MP)-contaminated soil, we corn stover soybean growth, soil nutrient content, enzyme activity, microbial biomass assessed its impact resource limitations. The addition of MPs inhibited various forms across four stages. Conversely, the to improved some extent, where above-ground increased by 5.82% after adding containing microplastics. treated biochar, nitrate nitrogen (N), available phosphorus (P), potassium (K) 20.1, 27.4, 57.2%, respectively, while significantly decreased 128.3 mg kg−1 compared MP-only treatment. PE-MPs alone reduced carbon (C), N, P activities, well biomass, β-glucosidase, leucine aminopeptidase, acid phosphatase activities decreasing 29.9, 27.8, 25.5%, respectively. Interestingly, alleviated these detrimental effects. Microbial C, up 56.0, 22.5, 96.6%, following Analysis vector lengths, angles, scatter plots indicated that presence N availability. Overall, development, this effect extent. Furthermore, partial least-squares path modeling revealed negatively affected chemical properties, whereas positively influenced activities.
