The analysis of microplastics with current spectroscopic and pyrolytic methods is reaching its limits, especially regard to detailed spatial distribution in biological tissues. This limitation hampers a comprehensive understanding the effects on organisms. Therefore, there pressing need expand analytical approaches study biota. In this context, aim was test applicability non-destructive 3D imaging using X-ray micro-computed tomography (microCT) for detection fish. Zebrafish (Danio rerio) were gavaged polyethylene spherical (30-110 μm) gut investigated microCT. results showed that particle size determined by microCT closely matched data from conventional laser diffraction analysis. addition, able detect spiked fish tissue provide precise localization tracing particles known type shape. MicroCT offers novel approach tracking organisms enables accurate sizing without compromising integrity under investigation. It therefore represents valuable addition methods, which are widely used based their chemical composition but do not distribution.

Digital Twins of the Ocean (DTO) are a rapidly emerging topic that has attracted significant interest from scientists in recent years. The initiative, strongly driven by EU, aims to create digital replica ocean better understand and manage marine environments. Iliad project, funded under EU Green Deal call, is developing framework support multiple interoperable DTO using federated systems-of-systems approach across various fields applications areas, called pilots. This paper presents results Water Quality pilot located Trondheim fjord Norway. details building blocks DTO, specific this environmental monitoring pilot.
