Plastic pollution in agricultural soil is a major concern, affecting biodiversity and functionality. In this context, studies of plastic that consider its use across different regions are essential. Considering land (forest, grassland, agriculture), study aimed to identify, quantify, characterize debris various agroecosystems within Southeast Brazil sub-basin. Additionally, the sampled was georeferenced, allowing characteristics be correlated with terrain features, such as LS factor vegetation cover. Based on size, categorized into macroplastics, mesoplastics, coarse microplastics. The results revealed areas accounted for 91.2% total waste collected. most common polymer types identified were polypropylene, polyethylene, poly(vinyl chloride), comprising 82.6% total. accumulation region primarily linked intensive human activity practices. Moreover, distribution strongly characteristics, particularly cover, higher concentrations observed smooth moderately undulating terrain. These findings highlight importance monitoring microwatershed identifying sources provide valuable insights mitigating environmental impact.

Microplastics (MPs) are recognized as emerging soil contaminants. However, the potential risks of MPs to agroecosystems have not been fully revealed, especially compound toxic effects with co-existing organic or inorganic pollutants (OPs/IPs) in agricultural fields. In this study, we quantified contributions different agronomic practices sources and highlighted important influences long-term tillage fertilization on migration aging addition, antagonistic synergistic interactions between OPs/IPs were explored. We emphasized that degree adsorption particles is a key determinant co-toxicity those contaminants soil. Finally, several directions for future research proposed, these knowledge gaps provide an basis understanding contamination process soils.

In recent years, microplastics, especially marine microplastic pollution, have received global attention as a new type of environmental problem. The establishment accurate and efficient methods for the detection microplastics is basis in-depth research on transport, transformation, fate, ecotoxicological effects in environment. Microplastics seawater frequently mix with biological tissues, resulting challenges when identifying samples. However, commonly used pretreatment protocols often suffer from long digestion times, inadequate digestion, risk potentially damaging microplastics. This study compared efficiencies five reagents provided further insights into two advanced oxidation involving Fenton’s reagent an innovative alkaline K 2 S O 8 protocol based sulfate hydroxyl radicals. Using Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM−EDS), carbonyl index (CI) analyses, status after was evaluated. results revealed that method could enhance reaction efficiency while reducing potential functional group damage during pretreatment. Moreover, proposed applied to field samples, were effectively separated biologically rich Thus, provides effective way isolate contributes development efficiently monitoring valuable access reliable data fate inventory oceanic
