Non-targeted screening (NTS) technology has been showing significant potential in identifying contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) water and attracted great attention academia recent years. It is a method that analyzes samples without pre-selecting substances, enabling the detection identification unknown compounds, which crucial for environmental health public protection. This study uses Bibliometrix package R 4.4.1 CiteSpace 6.3.R1 software to statistically analyze 589 relevant publications from Web Science Core Collection 2007 2024. Our work concentrates on NTS bodies; thus, articles only sediments analyzing were not considered inclusion. By conducting quantitative analysis visualizing publication trends, countries, authors, journals, keywords, present identifies research hotspots, compositions, paradigms within this field, trying horizontal vertical development trends structural evolution area. The found application pollution studies progressed through three phases: theoretical exploration, rapid development, steady progress. From national level, China leads with highest number (131), followed by Germany (105), Spain (50), United States (39). top authors volume are J. Hollender, Nikolaos S. Thomaidis, Emma L. Schymanski, while citation count M. Krauss. However, international collaboration between countries researchers still remains an area improvement. Total Environment journal (81), Environmental & Technology holds citations. Research methodologies, suspect screening, risk assessments hot topics academic community. Future expected be multidisciplinary, hotspots likely focus including novel pollutants NTS, toxicity biotransformed impacts mechanisms related compounds.
