Biomass energy recovery from sewage sludge through anaerobic treatment is vital for environmental sustainability and a circular economy. However, large amounts of pharmaceutical personal care products (PPCPs) remain in sludge, their interactions with microbes enzymes would affect resource recovery. This article reviews the effects mechanisms PPCPs on treatment. Most posed adverse impacts methane production, while certain low-toxicity could stimulate volatile fatty acids biohydrogen accumulation. Changes microbial community structure functional enzyme bioactivities were also summarized exposure. Notably, such as carbamazepine bind active sites induce stress responses. The fate various during indicated that featuring electron-donating groups (e.g., ·-NH

Various aquaculture modes have been developed to satisfy the growing demands of aquatic products. The contaminated characteristics may distribute along with modes, threatening ecological environment varying degrees. Herein, five most common (small-scale intensive mode, extensive free-range concentrated contiguous funnel-type and recirculating system) were selected study (including nine kinds water quality parameters eight antibiotics) in Henan Province, a province northern China, analysed using high-performance liquid chromatography tandem secondary mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS). as unique mode appears highest nutrient content, wherein TN TP concentrations reach 29.28 mg/L 2.20 mg/L, respectively. small-scale has average antibiotic concentration different 502 ng/L. Overall, abundant was quinolones (QNs), followed by sulfonamides (SAs), chloramphenicols (CAs), tetracyclines (TCs). Pearson correlation analysis showed that ENR had strong positive TN, TP, Zn, indicating enrofloxacin (ENR) existed addictive feed. Moreover, risk quotient (RQ) indicated posed medium high risk, highlighting importance antibiotics man-agement aquaculture. This work provides theoretical guidance for formulation pollutant control modes.

To examine the impact of antibiotic contamination on water quality and rhizospheric microbial communities, a simulated cultivation experiment was employed to investigate potential impacts tetracycline (Tet) stress community composition in rhizosphere Eichhornia crassipes (E. crassipes), with focus its implications for bioremediation strategies. The results showed significant disruption diversity structure at varying accumulated Tet concentrations (0, 2, 5, 10 mg·L−1). communities displayed resilience functional stability from low (2 mg·L−1) moderate (5 concentrations; while root decay marked decline were observed high (10 concentration. Some bacterial taxa, including Rhizobiaceae (0.34%), Comamonadaceae (0.37%), Chitinophagaceae (0.38%), exhibited notable enrichment under stress, underscoring their roles nitrogen cycling, organic matter decomposition, degradation. Physicochemical changes rhizosphere, such as shifts low-molecular-weight acids (LMWOAs), nutrient total carbon (TOC), revealed Tet-induced metabolic adaptations environmental alterations. Correlation analysis between factors dominant operational taxonomic units (OTUs) highlighted putative intricate interplay activity stress. These findings underscore dual both stressor selective agent, favoring antibiotic-resistant taxa suppressing sensitive groups. This study provides foundational insights into ecological dynamics conditions highlights Tet-polluted ecosystems.
