Increasing water use efficiency (WUE) is a key way to produce high crop yield under resources deficit regions. North China produces approximately 60% of the total Chinese wheat while suffering great shortages. Therefore, this paper aims find out main factors and their mechanisms that affect WUE winter in China. In study, we analyzed influencing based on mega data from published papers. We found climate conditions, irrigation fertilization management, tillage measures are three greatly influence production. Aiming for China, optimal average annual temperature 10–15 °C, seasonal precipitation 150–200 mm. The recommended amount 160–240 mm suitable methods drip sprinkler irrigation. application both nitrogen phosphorous (equivalent P2O5) kg·ha−1. Both deep loosening rotary can higher WUE. Ridge flat cultivation similar WUE, due its’ ease machine working. results study help farmers agricultural extension specialists select appropriate enhance may develop sustainable agriculture system production
