Humans have released thousands of antibiotics into the environment, which is a primary driver global dissemination bacterial resistance. Parent compounds can generate various transformation products (TPs), many remain unidentified and lack comprehensive microbial risk assessments. The TPs formed during process may exhibit structural similarities to parent compounds, they induce antibiotic-like resistance transmission despite lacking bactericidal/antibacterial properties compounds. However, assessments antimicrobial hazards predominantly emphasize while largely neglecting their TPs.
