Climate change is considered one of the greatest threats to environmental sustainability, human health and social well-being worldwide. The healthcare sector main actors with a strong negative footprint, being responsible for about 4% global emissions, also costliest sectors, spending absorbing 10% economic output. This article examines costs system in Greece, focus on public hospitals. data analysis methodology was based linear ordinary regression (OLS) models calculate related energy consumption, waste management water consumption. Data collected through Ministry Health's platform (BI Health) analyzed using Stata software. findings suggest that are significant part total operating costs, particularly university specialist Factors such as number beds, existence special units (e.g. ICU) use natural gas have impact costs. study offers mathematical model predicting which can help hospital administrators make decisions sustainable practices. could provide an important opportunity practical application targeted investing technologies, improving efficiency enhancing management, leading cost-effective environmentally

Worldwide, the healthcare industry produces massive quantities of medical waste (MW), most which is incinerated, releasing large dioxins, mercury, and other pollutants. Despite this, only a limited number studies have explored incorporation MW into construction materials, with special focus on cement-based materials (CB-CMs). However, to best authors’ knowledge, no existing review formally structures, summarizes, correlates, discusses findings previous in CB-CMs encourage further research applications this promising alternative. Therefore, added value study lies providing an innovative critical analysis use CB-CMs, consolidating evaluating dispersed through systematic literature review, enhancing understanding topic, identifying knowledge gaps guide future research. A robust was conducted, encompassing 40 peer-reviewed articles, retrieved from Web Science Core Collection database. The methodology involved three-stage process: descriptive included identification synthesis key thematic areas, evaluation data ensure rigorous report. selection criteria prioritized articles English full text availability published last 7 years, explicitly excluding conference papers, book chapters, short reports, not meeting language or accessibility requirements. results indicate that influence CB-CM varies significantly. For example, while face masks as fiber reinforcement concrete generally enhances its mechanical durability properties, gloves less effective always recommended. Finally, it found needed field due novelty.

The pollution posed by medical waste complicate the procedures of logistics (MWL), and increasingly frequent occurrence public health emergencies has magnified risks it. In this study, authors established an index factors influencing MWL along five dimensions: business, emergency capacity, equipment, personnel, management. best-worst case method was used to identify critical risk-related rank them importance. Following this, we assessed risk in four major cities China as example propose corresponding measures control. results showed that linking business processes most important factor MWL. other included location storage site, capacity for transportation, manage emergencies, safety packaging. Of considered, Beijing found be a high-risk city, its needed improved soon possible light relevant risks. Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen were evaluated general-risk cities, which meant not priority these areas, goals urban development should comprehensively considered during long-term planning municipalities.

Medical waste management is an essential component of healthcare delivery globally due to the toxic and contagious potentials on human health environment. There are resource limitations in developing nations when it comes appropriate handling medical wastes. In this article, we examined previous studies evaluate practices China Nigeria. Contextually, work addresses context generation, segregation, collection, storage, transportation, treatment disposal. addition reviewing additional important aspects management, current study challenges for efficient both countries. For study; Scopus, Web Science, Google Scholar, PubMed, Agencies, Conferences, National International Conventions were searched from 1998 up 2023 all reporting To further guarantee that only materials with similar research interests selected, a double screening process was employed. The countries limited financing, inadequate training, ineffective legislation, transport system insufficient technology. Furthermore, offers practical recommendations by identifying particular areas require attention development, such as training workers, adequate financing projects, including development emission reducing technologies, partnership other relevant authorities stakeholders ensure enforcement national local legislation.

The stability and efficiency of the waste supply chain (WSC) is related to urban environment. This study constructed a framework barriers coordinating WSC based on four perspectives: costs benefits, mechanisms involved, behaviors subjects, technologies standards used. We used an analytic network process fuzzy decision-making trial evaluation laboratory calculate centrality weight each barrier factor, we determined critical coordination by combining their results. A causality diagram was drawn, scheme designed closed-loop around barriers. results show that contradictions in benefits between economic social excessive subsidies, failure market mechanism, lack mechanism for supervision, blocked information distrust among subjects are five most WSC, with subsidies root cause coordination. subsidy direct disposal should be reduce cost operation recycling improved, information-sharing platform built, recyclable manufacturers reduced improve WSC.
