Around 2020, 5G began its commercialization journey, and discussions about the next-generation networks (such as 6G) emerged. Researchers predict that 6G will have higher bandwidth, coverage, reliability, energy efficiency, lower latency, be an integrated "human-centric" network system powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This lead to many real-time automated decisions, ranging from resource allocation collision avoidance for self-driving cars. However, there is a risk of losing control over decision-making due high-speed, data-intensive AI may go beyond designers' users' comprehension. To mitigate this risk, explainable (XAI) methods can used enhance transparency black-box process. paper surveys application XAI towards upcoming age, including technologies intelligent radio zero-touch management) use cases industry 5.0). This study investigates the relationship between Information and Communication Technology (ICT) penetration, electricity consumption, economic growth, environmental pollution within a multivariate framework. A panel of 16 EU countries was analyzed over 1990–2017 period. The results Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality tests reveal existence one-way running from ICT usage consumption which, in turn, causes rise CO2 emissions improves GDP. Panel Mean-Group regression highlight that growth is also an important driver demand as 1% rate associated with 0.13% increase per capita consumption. These demonstrate for first time literature single assessment on linkages among ICT, use novel focus EU. Based these results, adequate measures should encompass adverse effects while energy saving policies must be carefully implemented order not to hinder growth.
