The industrial economy occupies a crucial position in China’s national economy, and eco-efficiency (IEE) as significant indicator of regional green development levels. Balancing the positive interaction between resource environment, enhancing ecological efficiency are vital for achieving sustainable economic development. This study measures IEE 115 cities coastal China based on panel data resources environment factors. Subsequently, it further analyzes influencing mechanisms future trends IEE. results indicate that overall is an upward trend, with higher values provinces regions characterized by faster better environmental conditions. Significant changes spatial patterns observed, gaps narrowing “multi-core” model emerging. Factors such per capita GDP, ratio pollution control investment to innovation index, proportion foreign direct labor productivity significantly positively influence In contrast, added value urbanization rate, number enterprises exhibit notable negative inhibitory effects. Moreover, effect industrialization level other factors most significant. future, expected continue improving, although sustainability these appears weak. These findings reveal potential impact consumption caused activities benefit output. provides scientific basis optimizing energy layout, comprehensive utilization resources, improving compensation protection mechanisms.

Improving the green efficiency of urban land use (GEULU) is essential for optimizing resource utilization while minimizing waste and pollution, making it a critical factor influencing sustainability development. However, spatiotemporal heterogeneity impact China’s New-Style Urbanization (NU) policy on GEULU, particularly at agglomeration scale, remains understudied. This study employed super SBM-DDF-GML model spatial data analysis to examine characteristics dynamics GEULU its interactions with varying implementations NU regional, agglomeration, city levels. The results show that followed “U-shaped” tendency from 2006 2020. Cities in western China exhibit higher levels but slower growth, compared lower absolute faster development rates amongst eastern cities. displays significant positive autocorrelation, “high-high clusters” shifting west east “low-low moving opposite direction. divergent: central regions negative areas. Economic urbanization, population clustering research education facilitate efficiency, sprawl significantly hinders improvement. Social urbanization digitalization exert adverse effects across many Ecological environmental protections promote southwestern cities obstruct northeastern effect has diminished over time, have grown stronger. These findings provide insightful information planners politicians crafting region-contextualized adaptive strategies enhance sustainable efficient China.
