The combined effects of local warming brought on by urbanisation and global climate change are making urban heat a growing problem for many cities. Urban heat-related issues must be addressed immediately because these phenomena have substantial negative the environment, economy, society, human health. Although buildings play significant role in heat, they also offer opportunities mitigation through decarbonisation built environment. building industry has acknowledged green (GBs) as an innovative philosophy practice. GBs been suggested way to reduce islands (UHI) other issues. purpose this study is identify most important architectural factors that effectively UHI. Using extensive literature review methodology, identified eighteen references following thorough screening more than 1400 preliminary studies. These sources concentrate ways mitigate different approaches, such cutting carbon emissions, lessening artificial landscapes, enhancing energy efficiency. findings indicate significantly contribute reducing lowering minimising promoting energy-efficient designs. This provides holistic analysis mitigation, aiming inform future research planning development. manuscript addresses critical topic scientific community. This work presents a methodological approach for the assessment of combined effects air enthalpy variations due to presence green systems and building thermodynamics. It serves as valuable tool energy sustainability improvement urban areas defining scenarios integrated strategies with low environmental impact from perspective transition sustainability. The proposed is based on two methods, i.e., top-down bottom-up. Using thermodynamics, they allow evaluation ecosystem services in their areal distribution different built-up zones. an effective operational evaluations, focusing not only reduction anthropogenic impacts, mitigation heat islands, climate change adaptation but also promoting energy-efficient microclimate changes.

Buildings, Journal Year: 2025, Volume and Issue: 15(9), P. 1463 - 1463

Published: April 25, 2025

The international community is striving to build carbon-neutral societies in response urban environmental challenges. Green Buildings (GBs) and Urban Spaces (UGSs) are recognized as key elements future city development, they contribute both the reduction absorption of carbon emissions. This study analyzed research fields related GBs UGSs by collecting examining keywords from academic articles indexed Scopus database: 2880 1971 2025. After refining dataset 1685 articles, centrality, betweenness, cluster analyses were conducted, results visualized through a keyword network map. findings summarized follows: (1) Research on predominantly focuses experimental technological aspects, especially areas heat energy. (2) UGS-related studies largely policy-driven comprehensive, centering green infrastructure ecosystem services. (3) landscape highlights topics such greening existing building stock, roofs, rooftop agriculture integrating advanced technologies, focusing how these GB UGS strategies address barriers cycling. offers valuable insights for researchers architecture, planning who working toward realization cities.
