Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are increasingly gaining attention in many application fields due to their outstanding porosity and thermal stability, among other exceptional characteristics. However, the domain of water purification via adsorption, scientists have mainly focused on ZIF-8 and, a lesser extent, ZIF-67. The performance ZIFs as decontaminants is yet be explored. Hence, this study applied ZIF-60 for removal lead from aqueous solutions; first time has been used any treatment adsorption study. synthesized was subjected characterization using FTIR, XRD TGA. A multivariate approach investigate effect parameters findings revealed that dose concentration most significant factors affecting response (i.e., efficiency). Further, surface methodology-based regression models were generated. To further explore removing contaminated samples, kinetics, isotherm thermodynamic investigations conducted. obtained data well-fitted by Avrami pseudo-first-order kinetic models, suggesting process complex. maximum capacity (qmax) predicted 1905 mg/g. Thermodynamic studies an endothermic spontaneous process. Finally, experimental aggregated machine learning predictions several algorithms. model generated random forest algorithm proved effective basis its correlation coefficient minimal root mean square error (RMSE).

This study, for the first time, reported utilization of ZIF-60 adsorptive removal organic pollutant from contaminated water. Characterization techniques were used to confirm synthesis adsorbent which was then study uptake crystal violet (CV) aqueous system. A remarkably high experimental (in excess 7000 mg/g) CV onto noted due careful selection process parameters while conducting batch adsorption studies.
