It remains a huge challenge to clean leaks of oil and various organic solvents quickly efficiently, especially for special conditions such as high-viscosity oils, corrosion from acid/alkali solutions, high-temperature damage, fire risk. The adsorbents with three-dimensional porous structure excellent resilience have been recognized prospective candidates dealing oil–water separation problems. In this study, solar responsive multifunctional polyurethane foams were successfully fabricated by compounding photothermal hydrophobic components both internal external means. Due the interface adhesion, polydopamine/MXene nanosheet/polyaniline/polydimethylsiloxane (PMPP–PU) prepared introducing PDA/MXene nanoparticles phytic acid (PA)/PANI micronano coatings exhibited high adsorption capacity up 61.4 g/g different kinds low-viscosity solvents. Driven 1 kW/m2 illumination intensity, PMPP–PU increased 29.4 g/g, realizing 203% rise compared pure PU. Also, modified achieved rapid extrusion cyclic adsorbed solvents, showed an efficiency close 90% after 20 cycles. Besides, adsorbent remained persistent maintained stable hydrophobicity under extreme environmental not significantly damaged even attack. This work presents competitive strategy recovery oils.

Cyclodextrins (CDs), a low-polysaccharide class, possess hydrophilic outer surface due to their hydroxyl groups, which can be functionalized for various applications. In this study, the groups on β-cyclodextrin were with acrylates (CD-A) and subsequently used as cross-linker in copolymerization acrylamide form polyacrylamide-cyclodextrin hydrogel (PAC). Compared polyacrylamide (PAM), PAC exhibited enhanced water absorption abilities mechanical strength. Inspired by fish scales' structural properties, microporous stainless steel meshes coated PAC, we could demonstrate an excellent oil-water separation superhydrophilicity underwater superoleophobicity. The mesh effectively separated mixtures using gravity filtration, achieving efficiencies of over 99%. Repeated use different oil types confirmed durability effectiveness hydrogel-coated practical applications separation.
