Tetracycline antibiotics are widely used in human medical treatment, control of animal disease, and agricultural feed because their broad spectrum action, high efficiency, low cost. The excessive use arbitrary discharge antibiotic wastewater have become increasingly serious problems, the current sewage-treatment process is not ideal for treating water contaminated with tetracycline antibiotics, leading to prominent pollution imminent need its removal. In order understand necessity removing from environment, this paper first expounds on source, harms, status oceans surface water, groundwater, wastewater, drinking water. It next introduces research conventional treatment methods such as adsorption methods, biological physical chemical then new advanced oxidation comprehensive technology sewage plants. degradation effects, mechanisms challenges these were summarized. advantages disadvantages each compared. Finally, potential future processing technologies discussed.
