Metal–organic framework (MOF) has been reported as unrivaled inorganic–organic three-dimensional hybrid nanoparticles with high specific surface area and valuable structural, microstructural, physical attributes. This cutting edge overview systematically outlines the scientific impact of MOF inclusions in polymeric matrices enfolding fundamentals nanoparticles, subsequent nanocomposite categories, probable potential multi-functional polymer/MOF systems. Consequently, research engrossed development high-performance thermosetting/MOF (epoxies, polyurethanes, unsaturated polyester, etc.), thermoplastic/MOF (polystyrene, styrenic block copolymers, poly(methyl methacrylate)), conjugated (polyaniline, polypyrrole, polythiophene derivatives) nanocomposites pristine modified entities. Successively, structural multiplicity reinforced brought about significant revolts toward energy devices (batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells), gas capturing, water purification, biomedical (tissue engineering, bioimaging) solicitations.
