In this study, a simple, rapid, and environmentally friendly green approach for synthesizing Fe 3 O 4 /chitosan nanoparticles with various concentrations was developed. The had spherical shape cubic inverse spinel structure. functionalization of the using chitosan increased crystallite size from 7.2 to 7.8 nm. Fourier transform infrared spectra showed existence characteristic peaks in addition peak at 578 cm −1 , which corresponds stretching Fe−O group. UV-visible demonstrated wide absorption band appearance small 205 215 saturation magnetization 54.1 emu g . surface plasmon resonance (SPR) measurements an enhancement SPR angle as ratio increased, wherein shift 0.17° 1.91°. covering nanoparticle caused refractive index change, shift. obtained results indicated that properties were significantly improved by modification chitosan. These also use can enhance properties, has potential future SPR-based sensor applications.
