The study of growth and development lambs (Ovis aries) is essential in sheep farming, melatonin plays an important role the physiology growing lambs. effects exogenous treatment on several physiological characteristics fattening at weaning were studied. Eight assigned to one two groups; those that did (melatonin group, n = 4) or not (no-melatonin receive subcutaneous implants weaning. At end period, quantify locomotor activity (LA), each lamb was fitted with a triaxial accelerometer, for 7 days. Simultaneously, received surgically implanted temperature (T) heart rate (HR) biologger, which programmed record data every 5 min. HR variability (HRV) variables (SDNN, standard deviation normal-to-normal R-R intervals, RMSSD, root mean square consecutive deviations between normal heartbeats) measured. All exhibited 24-h circadian rhythms. Time day (daytime vs. nighttime) had significant effect LA, T, HR, but considering both time, differences time these only observed melatonin-treated Exogenous affect LA lower SDNN, RMSSD than non-treated In conclusion, use biologgers accelerometers demonstrated rhythms HRV, negatively affected its other differed night.
