Itch is a commonly experienced problem by individuals with chronic wounds and greatly compromises their quality of life. Scratching can further hinder the wound healing process. Despite this being clinically recognized issue, our knowledge its exact prevalence in different types molecular mechanisms driving it limited. The multifactorial nature itch makes characterization particularly challenging. present review based on thorough PubMed search, aims to provide an overview existing evidence epidemiology, impact, pathophysiology itch, along general recommendations management. Importantly, work highlights merit screening patients for associated pruritus incorporating anti-itch measures mainstream care.
