This study investigates the mechanical properties of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) 60A, which is a flexible material that can be used to produce soft robotic grippers using additive manufacturing. Tensile tests were conducted under ISO 37 and 527 standards assess effects different printing orientations (0°, 45°, −45°, 90°, quasi-isotropic) test speeds (2 mm/min, 20 200 mm/min) on material’s performance. While at 0° quasi-isotropic provided similar performance, orientation demonstrated most balanced behavior, establishing it as optimal choice for robust predictable particularly computational simulations. TPU 60A’s flexibility further emphasizes its suitability handling delicate objects in industrial agricultural applications, where damage prevention critical. Computational simulations finite element method conducted. To verify accuracy models, comparison was made between average stresses tensile predictions. The relative errors force displacement are lower than 5%. So, constitutive model accurately represent making suitable with this material. analysis strain rates valuable insights into optimizing production processes enhanced strength. highlights importance tailored parameters achieve uniformity, suggesting improvements such biaxial testing G-code optimization variable thickness deposition. Overall, research offers comprehensive guidelines future design manufacturing techniques robotics.
