Quantum dots (QDs), and carbon quantum (CDs) in particular, have received significant attention for their special characteristics. These particles, on the scale of several nanometers, are often produced using simple green methods, with naturally occurring organic precursors. In addition to facile production CDs present advantageous applications field medicine, primarily bioimaging, antibacterial therapeutics. Also, great potential surface modification through methods like doping or material mixing during synthesis. However, bulk current literature focuses emitting blue wavelengths which not very suitable biological applications. Red therefore additional interest due brightness, photostability, novelty deeper tissue penetration. this review article, red CDs, production, translational research explored depth, emphasis effects modifications doping.

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is one kind of significant ROS and a typical environmental pollution, which closely linked to our food chain threatens human health. Hence, dual-emission ratiometric fluorescent nanoprobe (N-CDs@Eu-UiO-66-(COOH)2) for sensitive specific determination HOCl was fabricated based on Eu3+-modified carbon dot-encapsulated MOFs. The N-CDs were encapsulated into MOFs, can greatly improve their photostability resistance photobleaching in aqueous solution. N-CDs@UiO-66-(COOH)2 modified by Eu3+ ions, emit the red characteristic fluorescence ions via antenna effect. quench through oxidizing hydroxyl groups its surface, while remains unchanged. N-CDs@Eu-UiO-66-(COOH)2 thus detecting HOCl. has high sensitivity selectivity, LOD (3σ/K) attain 15.0 nM. Moreover, also be applied real-time detection levels live cells ratio imaging, serve as noninvasive tool sensitively fluctuations living cells. This work provide promising application monitoring vivo.
