The lack of handy and reliable sensing strategy for non-contact freshness assessment is a problem faced by food industries. This work presented an innovative solution monitoring proteinous foods: halochromy- fluorescence-based dual-response sensors with rapid irreversible readout. Sensors were prepared the polycondensation CdTe quantum dots (QDs)-doped silane coupling agents onto filter papers then anchoring pH-sensitive halochromic compounds like blueberry anthocyanin (BA) electrostatic interaction. as-designed showed (within 1 min) responsiveness on both appearance fluorescence under total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) atmosphere through structural variations BA inner effect (IFE)-induced quenching QDs, such dual-signal response could be sustained at least 7 days after removal TVB-N. As proof-of-concept, spoilage foods was experimentally proved to highly feasible using pork, shrimps shelled eggs as representatives real samples. Smartphone-based digital color information paper before furtherly applied reconstruct digitized binary response, reinforcing credibility this strategy. Trimethylamine identified UHPLC-HRMS in leachates spoiled also double-checked rationality work.

With the global limited food resources receiving grievous damage from frequent climate changes and ascending demand resulting increasing population growth, perovskite nanocrystals with distinctive photoelectric properties have emerged as attractive prospective luminogens for exploitation of rapid, easy operation, low cost, highly accurate, excellently sensitive, good selective biosensors to detect foodborne hazards in practices. Perovskite demonstrated supreme advantages luminescent biosensing products due their high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield, narrow full width at half-maximum PL, tunable PL entire visible spectrum, preparation, various modification strategies compared conventional semiconductors. Herein, we carried out a comprehensive discussion concerning application high-performance products, including brief introduction nanocrystals, nanocrystal-based biosensors, different categories products. Finally, challenges opportunities faced by superior were proposed promote practicality future supply.

Different types of electron transfers (ETs) underlie the versatile use various solid viologen-derived compounds, which is still insufficiently understood and difficult to control. Here, we demonstrate an effective strategy for modulating key ET process in crystalline metalloviologen compounds (MVCs). By adjusting coordinated transition metal ions bearing different electronic structures (e.g., d5, d7, d10), three MVCs (i.e., Mn-1, Co-2, Cd-3) with highly consistent coordination environments have been synthesized successfully. Surprisingly, whether photochromism (energy-induced mechanism) or specific analyte recognition (molecule-induced mechanism), compound Cd-3 exhibits obvious photochromic behavior differential dimethylamine detection. Combined detailed structural analysis theoretical calculations, such unique ion-dependent properties, were correlated fine modulation density bipyridinium cores by ions. Additionally, thanks delicate vapor, a convenient test strip Cd-3-PAN was prepared as sensitive biogenic amine sensor evaluating real-time freshness seafood.
