South Africa is composed of a two-tier healthcare system. One tier private system that funded through medical insurance, and comprised people who can afford to make monthly payments towards their insurance. Second government-funded public system, which covers the majority population. This study explored perceived barriers current strategies being utilised by pharmaceutical industry increase access innovator medicines. The objectives were to: (1) quantify classify medicines registered between 2010 2020 African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA); (2) identify accessing in interviews with market managers from companies; (3) explore used industry. employed quantitative qualitative methodology.
