Abstract The use of methanol as a chemical precursor and fuel additive has increased recently on global scale. Hence, this study combined bibliometric traditional review methods to assess the recent trends evolution production, well its use. According study, producing large scale from renewable sources is still hampered by immature technologies used in production. For instance, production via process biochemical conversion remains at laboratory level even though it proven be promising option.
