Global challenges such as energy scarcity and food security are intensified by a growing population substantial post-harvest losses, contributing to alarming hunger levels. Solar drying is recognized an effective, high-quality, sustainable method for preservation, significantly aiding global security. Dryers essential in agriculture the industry extending crop shelf life removing moisture through thermal energy, with solar being particularly suitable due its environmental benefits availability. This article reviews classification of dryers, including direct (DSD), indirect (ISD), hybrid (HSD) systems, examining key components like collectors, chambers, auxiliary systems factors affecting their performance. The review highlights that efficiency dryers depends on dryer type, irradiation, duration, operational conditions. Recent advancements enhance dryers' include incorporating heating sources (electric or biomass), solar-assisted heat pump surface modification techniques, storage utilizing sensible latent storage. Findings suggest HSD units can achieve up 54% efficiencies, while collectors reach 81%, yielding better product quality than traditional ones.

The influence of heat transfer and frictional characteristics air that is turbulent transitting rectangular channel textured by novel hybrid roughness (multi-V shaped ribs combined with hemispherical protrusion in V-fashion) has been studied experimentally. A uniform solar intensity 1000 W/m2 incident over the opposite side roughened plate. relative pitch, angle attack, Reynolds number, hydraulic diameter, gap width majorly thermal heater. In this research paper, effect number from 4281 to 18,250, pitch 0.375 0.625 2 4 on friction factor geometry have studied. highest value Nusselt 4.15 obtained at a 0.5, compared smooth duct 18,250. By increasing keeps decreasing about 3.8 0.375, 4,281 as duct. results experiment shows performs thermally better than their solitary geometries. Further, correlations were also developed show very good match experimental results.

As one of the main chili varieties in Mexico, Yahualica requires year-round availability. This study examines feasibility five drying methods (open-air, solar, microwave, freeze-drying and shade drying) used to preserve this culturally economically valuable product. The results show duration rate for solar with varying air temperatures (40, 50, 60, 70 °C) airflows (150, 200, 250, 300 m3/h) microwave power levels (90, 160, 360, 600 W). Convection efficiency increased temperature airflow, according findings. Microwave significantly reduced time, higher powers further accelerated moisture removal. Open sun was slowest, open also susceptible factors compromising quality. Total Phenolic Content (TPC), Capsaicinoids (TCC), antioxidant activity had a positive effect, since methodologies favored release these compounds.
