In 2021, the packaging sector emerged as largest source of plastic waste in Europe, accounting for about 40% total demand plastics. On average, an EU citizen produced 35.9 kg from packaging, with a 27% increase over last 10 years. Despite advances material efficiency and sustainability efforts, average recycling rate was around 2022, significantly lower than that paper cardboard (83.2%) metals (76.9%). The Food Beverage (F&B) is extensive user driving innovative solutions to maintain food quality safety while minimizing environmental impact. light these challenges, this comprehensive review examines expanding use within F&B management post-consumer at level. It scrutinizes technical, economic, regulatory trade-offs deployment disposal, emphasizing need supply chain collaboration devise effective solutions. study provides overview regulations on health safety, sustainability, labeling requirements materials products. also explores optimization business operators practices well current strategies waste, focusing mechanical chemical adherence targets. Additionally, it identifies barriers adopting sustainable alternatives discusses impact design recyclability consumer acceptance. concludes future research industry opportunities, highlighting balance cost-effectiveness.
