Healthy and fertile soils are the foundation of sustainable global agriculture, supporting both intensive extensive crop cultivation, including orchards vineyards across diverse agroecosystems. However, widespread use synthetic fertilizers has degraded soil organic matter overall quality, leading to significant environmental consequences threats ecosystem services. Challenges in accessing mineral fertilizers, along with growing concerns over sustainability, have driven interest alternative approaches such as compost, biofertilizers, biopesticides, microbiome-based strategies enhance fertility reduce chemical inputs agriculture. Compost derived from grapevine pruning waste shows promise addressing agricultural challenges, but further research is needed understand its effects on nutrient release dynamics microbial activity. Inoculating compost a fungal consortium presents an innovative strategy cycling interactions, availability challenges. This study aimed evaluate impact three fertilization methods health: NPK (mineral fertilizer), PWC (pruning compost), iPWC inoculated consortia). Conducted 135 days controlled growth chamber, fifteen pots received equal macronutrient doses. Environmental parameters (humidity, temperature, light/dark cycles) were closely monitored. Throughout experiment, key nutrients, enzyme activity, community responses rigorously assessed. The results showed that fungi significantly enhanced enzymes activities. Microbial activity was higher treatments, greater functional diversity observed fertilizer treatment. released major minerals more slowly than while enhancing available fraction. These findings underscore compost’s potential, especially when supplemented fungi, improve health promote practices regeneration.

Abstract There is an urgent need to change the current extractive and resource-intensive agricultural practices. Adopting circular practices within system could provide multiple benefits of slowing global climate change, reducing helping farmers adapt a changing climate. However, there are still many barriers for adopt these desired agriculture (CA) practices, among others, lack information about on-farm support in recognising which strategies can increase circularity their farm what this means terms farms’ neutrality its long-term sustainability. Therefore, aim paper develop novel conceptual framework facilitate broader integrated understanding how CA contribute goals mitigation sustainability, thus supporting transitioning farms towards greater circularity.
