Abstract Addressing the issues of long processing time, high computational complexity, and poor stitching quality in existing methods for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) image stitching, this paper proposes an method based on similar region estimation. Firstly, input set UAV images is subjected to superpixel segmentation estimate regions among images. Secondly, improved SIFT algorithm used extract match feature points within across set. Finally, obtained matching points, optimal seam-line a weighted average fusion are employed fuse images, resulting stitched image. Experimental validation using public dataset UAV-image-mosaicing demonstrates that our achieves nearly double speed extraction compared traditional algorithms triples rate. Furthermore, mainstream methods, approach reduces time consumption by half while improving evaluation metrics SSIM, MAE, PSNR approximately 5% average.

VR technologies are playing an increasingly important role in the visualisation of hard-to-reach places, such as underground environments, which is for documentation and protection cultural heritage. The digitisation objects allows creation a faithful digital twin its dissemination form immersive experiences. In this study, comprehensive workflow 3D virtual models was developed illustrated using part Podgórze uranium mine example. process included data acquisition, point cloud processing, modeling, optimisation, integration into game engine applications. results show that obtained achieved high accuracy, cloud-to-mesh (C2M) mean errors within ± 14 mm standard deviations up to 58 relative input data. Despite lack original textures, realistic approximations have been used enhance authenticity. Interactive elements further user experience. support preservation historical sites popularisation educational tourist proposed highly adaptable, making it applicable other industrial sites.

Purpose Despite ongoing safety efforts, construction sites remain some of the most hazardous workplaces. This study introduces an innovative occupational and health administration (OSHA) training approach by creating a realistic virtual environment using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery game engine. Integrating OSHA regulations makes instructions more effective than traditional training. Design/methodology/approach The research employs UAV-derived photogrammetry to generate 3D textured mesh model active site. is integrated into engine develop interactive, first-person simulation where users explore site receive at hazard points. Validation was conducted through questionnaire surveys 13 professionals 25 undergraduate students. Findings shows that interactive game-based learning significantly improves trainees’ ability identify understand site-specific hazards. Survey responses from students indicated in teaching protocols 30 Practical implications demonstrates integrating UAV with engines enhances improving recognition knowledge retention. results show higher effectiveness enables realistic, instruction, supporting compliance reducing accidents immersive learning. Originality/value high-fidelity models platform. Unlike methods generic simulations, this reflects specific conditions hazards sites, offering tailored instructions.
