Solid rocket motors (SRMs) have multiple working states, and thermal protection system (TPS) materials used in their combustion chambers must possess high ablation resistance different environments. However, the currently utilized TPS do not fully satisfy this requirement. In study, importance of oxidation a char layer at low temperatures was established for first time. This achieved via B2O3 addition, which produced liquid film that considerably improved performance materials. Typical tests were conducted to demonstrate superior formulations, characteristics analyzed elucidate reinforcement mechanism. work opens new avenue design high-performance presents novel B2O3-reinforced with excellent performance, can help improve comprehensive performances TPSs SRMs.
