In order to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy, hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) layer with a thickness about 20 mm was directly prepared on AM50 alloy substrate in superheated water vapor at 200 oC for 2 h under pressure ~ 0.12 MPa. The preparation layers does not require expensive equipment, complicated manipulation any pretreatment. electrical energy very small amount tap were consumed processing. Compared untreated sample, friction coefficient decreased from ~0.45 ~0.15. rate reduced by approximately times. relatively thick Mg(OH)2 acted enhance alloy.
