Abstract This study employed latent profile analysis (LPA) to identify emotion profiles among foreign language (FL) learners and explored their relationship with FL achievement subjective well-being, drawing on control-value theory. The participants included 4,109 Chinese secondary students who completed an English test online questionnaires focusing well-being enjoyment, anxiety, burnout. LPA results indicated a four-profile model, categorized as “low burnout”, enjoyment moderate anxiety “moderate low “high burnout”. Four showed significant differences in achievement. Notably, the group characterized by burnout” demonstrated highest levels of In contrast, exhibited lowest outcomes these areas. Additionally, outperformed achievement, despite experiencing lower well-being. Significant were also observed across gender, socioeconomic status, boarding status. Recent investigators have illuminated the crucial role of positive psychology in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). However, little is known about academic buoyancy potential mediator relationship between foreign language anxiety and learners' engagement learning. To address this gap, we adopted quantitative approach to explore these links. We surveyed 970 Chinese high school EFL students measure their anxiety, buoyancy, engagement.
