Cellulose-based materials have attracted great attention due to the demand for eco-friendly and renewable energy alternatives. An increase in use of these is expected coming years progressive decline supply petrochemicals. Based on limitations cellulose terms dissolution/processing, focused green chemistry, new production techniques are emerging, such as dissolution functionalization ionic liquids which known solvents. This review summarizes recent used processing cellulose, including pretreatment, hydrolysis, functionalization, conversion into bio-based platform chemicals. The literatures investigating progress that ILs made their transition from academia commercial application cellulosic biomass also reviewed.

A growing body of research is investigating the connections between discursive construction circular economy (CE) and its influences on public policies that promote socio-technological transition towards production consumption systems. However, surprisingly little attention has focused how CE discourses interact with science, technology, innovation (ST&I) actors. To address this gap, adopts prism socio-technical imaginaries to understand specific visions circularity in science innovation, exploring competing mobilize actors, institutions, a greener future. Our empirical material included archival documentation from Norwegian government funded projects CE. analysis identified two key tension points within these imaginaries: "International drivers versus regional local arenas" "Ecological modernization sectoral transformation." We suggest tensions are inherent but often silenced or minimized by institutional circularity. findings official policy programs tend minimize overtly ignore criticisms contestation increasingly raised academic circles. indicate need for increased involvement ST&I actors other societal (such as NGOs private sector) policymaking process avoid endless growth an unexpected outcome.

Polymers, Journal Year: 2022, Volume and Issue: 14(24), P. 5519 - 5519

Published: Dec. 16, 2022

Bio-based polymers, obtained from natural biomass, are nowadays considered good candidates for the replacement of traditional fossil-derived plastics. The need substituting synthetic plastics is mainly driven by many concerns about their detrimental effects on environment and human health. most innovative way to produce bioplastics involves use raw materials derived wastes. Raw vital importance animal health due economic environmental benefits. Among these, wood waste gaining popularity as an material biopolymer manufacturing. On other hand, wastes a source biopolymers biocomposites still under development processing methods currently being studied in order reach high reproducibility thus increase yield production. This study therefore aimed cover current developments classification, manufacturing, performances fields application bio-based especially focusing sources. work was carried out using both descriptive analytical methodology: first, description state art it exists at present reported, then available information analyzed make critical evaluation results. A second employ scraps bio-reinforcements composites; therefore, mechanical response addition different matrices explored this work. Results showed Young’s modulus up 9 GPa wood-reinforced PLA 6 PHA.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to appraise and evaluate empirical research on circular economy in food systems, consolidating the existing knowledge identifying shortcomings emerging body research. Design/methodology/approach authors conducted a systematic literature review 136 studies from electronic databases Scopus Web Science. also developed thematic analysis summarized results framework. Findings identified seven critical issues for transition systems: consumer behavior, multistakeholder coordination, business models, digital technologies, barriers, processes performance measurement systems. Moreover, provide an agenda future these topics. Originality/value While reviews are spreading rapidly, no have comprehensively addressed systems business, management, organization domains.
