In recent years, the concept of smart cities has become increasingly important in pursuit sustainable development goals. general, common urban challenges have been addressed through smart-city services, and new perspectives for more emerged. To realize full potential such environments, geospatial approaches used as a focal point, offering plethora applications that contribute to better understanding innovation potentials. Nevertheless, although significant progress made, different problems may arise when available technologies resources are not understood or even their potentialities properly capitalized. This article reviews state art field, highlighting success cases remaining exploiting data-driven strategies, particularly leveraging geographic information systems, satellites, distributed sensors produce process data datasets scenarios. Moreover, organized perspective area is provided this article, well future trends, supporting research efforts empowering future.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the science fields with huge potential to create a cognitive and tech-leaping type future smart city design/development. However, extant studies lag behind recent applications, growth areas, challenges associated AI implementation. This study examines AI’s current role, trend, impacts in enhancing drivers. The methodology entails conducting Systematic Literature Review (SLR) publications from 2022 onwards. approach involves qualitative deductive coding methods, descriptive statistical analysis, thematic analysis. findings revealed (i) public services connectivity, (ii) improving accessibility efficiency, (iii) quality healthcare, (iv) education, (v) safety. Likewise, strategies, such as collaborative ecosystems, digital infrastructure, capacity building, clear guidelines ethical framework, were proposed for fostering integration cities. research fills notable gap understanding specific contributions cities, offering insights stakeholders urban planning, computer science, sociology, economics, environmental initiatives. It serves strategic guideline scholarly output design. also underscores creating dynamic, sustainable, efficient environments.

With the rapid development of China’s economy, issue environmental pollution during urbanization has become increasingly prominent, posing a significant threat to residents’ health and quality life. While existing studies have explored economic impacts smart city initiatives their effects on carbon emissions, relationship between policies urban emissions remains underexplored. This study fills this gap by examining impact pilot pollutant using panel data from 280 Chinese cities (2007–2021) multi-period DID model. The findings demonstrate that construction effectively reduces level in cities, with effect persisting even after conducting various robustness tests. Furthermore, our mechanism analysis reveals upgrading industrial structure, enhancing green innovation capabilities, improving energy efficiency are crucial means which mitigates emissions. Additionally, we identify enhancement digital infrastructure reinforcement regulations can enhance mitigation efficacy development. suppressive is more pronounced non-resource-based cities.

Purpose This paper aims to present the results of a project deployment on voluntary data exchange between municipality and commercial entities built Commitment-Trust theory. The research also discovers whether sharing can be vital instrument foster city socio-economic development. Design/methodology/approach Inspired by engaged scholarship approach, this explores economic operational integration from two different information sources, legislation impact effects citizens as final beneficiaries. Over period 27 months, authors observed changes brings in traditional interaction multiple ecosystems. positive negative factors was validated via 12 exit interviews with key stakeholders. Findings Voluntary is driven parties’ goodwill improve public services for residents, organisations gain tremendously much more benefits than they do separately their own. When parties commit voluntarily share data, increases trust each other responsibility contributor. proposes that theory well-replicable government-to-business relationship. Originality/value contributes current body knowledge ecosystems, especially government its environment. presents relevant an emerging economy consequences municipality, businesses residents.
