Abstract Strengthening the robustness and stability of industrial chains is not only a necessary pathway to achieving strategic goals China’s new development paradigm but also fundamental pillar in building modern economic system with Chinese characteristics. Drawing on panel data from 30 provinces spanning 2011 2022, this study constructs index systems for artificial intelligence manufacturing industry chain resilience (Mir) using entropy weight method. It systematically examines effects Mir its underlying mechanisms. The key findings are as follows: (1) Artificial significantly enhances Mir, result confirmed through multiple tests; (2) Mechanism analysis reveals that improves primarily technological innovation digital empowerment effects; (3) Threshold indicate intelligence’s impact exhibits nonlinear characteristics under varying levels infrastructure; (4) Heterogeneity shows pronounced structural divergence resilience-enhancing effects, stronger observed high-resilience clusters, dimensions adaptive recovery innovative reconfiguration, export-oriented supply chains. This offers novel theoretical perspective methodological framework assessing within paradigm.
