Flow cytometry (FC) is a very powerful method for the assessment of spermatozoa quality in multiple livestock species, including bulls. Nowadays, many flow cytometric tests are available detection bull sperm. These based on fluorochromes (fluorescent tags or dyes) and use correct concentrations an essential aspect successful optimization experimental methodology. Modern cytometers much more affordable, such that spermatologists now able to FC methodology (and even image cytometry) their studies. The present review aims give summary current methodologies used assess sperm by cytometry. Namely, we here studies related evaluation published last three years (from 2021 2023). Importantly, review, concentration unified presented using comparable molarity units. Furthermore, rationale each particular fluorescent tests, citation corresponding original methodology, given. This will help shorten time needed quality.

The discovery of the Robertsonian translocation (rob) involving cattle chromosomes 1 and 29 demonstration its deleterious effects on fertility focused interest many scientific groups using chromosome banding techniques to reveal abnormalities verify their in domestic animals. At same time, comparative studies among various species or wild animals were found useful for delineating evolution species. advent molecular cytogenetics, particularly use fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH), has allowed a deeper investigation through: (a) physical mapping specific DNA sequences regions; (b) markers identification regions involved abnormalities, especially when poor patterns are produced; (c) better anchoring radiation hybrid genetic maps (d) comparisons related unrelated by FISH and/or Zoo-FISH techniques; (e) study meiotic segregation, sperm-FISH, some abnormalities; (f) conserved lost (g) informatic genomic reconstructions, addition CGH arrays, predict species; (h) stability PCR applications. This review summarizes most important applications cytogenetics bovids, with an emphasis

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecules of 22-24 nucleotides that regulate gene expression. In the last decade, miRNAs have been described in sperm several mammals, including cattle. It is known can act as key regulators early embryogenesis mice and humans; however, little about content, expression, function sperm-borne bovine embryo. this study, total was isolated from 29 cryopreserved samples (each coming a separate bull) using RNeasy kit treatment with DNase I. concentration purity were determined through an Epoch spectrophotometer Agilent Bioanalyzer. Telomeres are repeated sequences of nucleotides at the end chromosomes. They deteriorate across mitotic divisions a cell. In Homo sapiens this process lifetime reduction has been shown to correspond with aspects organismal aging and exposure stress or other insults. The early impetus characterize telomere dynamics in livestock related concern that aged donor DNA would result earlier cell senescence overall cloned animals. Telomere length investigations dairy cows included breed effects, estimates additive genetic control (heritability 0.12 0.46), effects external stressors on degradation animal life. Evaluation telomeres respect also conducted pigs horses, there fewer reports biology beef cattle, sheep, goats. There were minimal associations productivity measures. Most, but not all, work documented an inverse relationship between peripheral blood age; is, longer was associated younger age. Because longevity affects profitability, role tissue-specific attrition may present alternative improvement strategies for while providing translational biomedical knowledge.

High milk yield is associated with reduced longevity in high-producing dairy cattle breeds. Pre-term culling leads to high replacement heifer demand and economic losses for the industry. Selection this trait limited because of low heritability difficulties phenotype measurement. Telomeres are elements found at ends chromosomes, consisting repetitive DNA sequences, several thousand base pairs length, coupled nucleoprotein complexes. Eventually, humans most other animals, telomere length reduces age. When telomeric truncated a critical cell ageing, cycle arrest, apoptosis induced.
