Over the last 40 years, several studies have provided evidence demonstrating that viral vectors can result in effective gene targeting/insertions a host’s genome. The traditional approaches of knock-down, -out, or -in involve an intensive transgenesis process is plagued by extensive timescales. Plant viruses potential to target specific genes and integrate exogenous DNA molecules at locus. Their ability manipulate genetic material become part it makes them remarkable agents helpful for molecular synthetic biology. In this review, we describe how geminivirus-based be utilized overcome transgenesis. We highlight progress has been made so far also discuss hurdles hinder employment vectors. Furthermore, conclude with comparison other plant-derived Geminivirus-based stand poised revolutionize plant genome editing making nucleic acid manipulation cheaper easier deploy, thus lessening major technical constraints, including homology-directed repair (HDR)-mediated time-inefficient tissue culture procedures. insights given review illustrate broader picture geminiviral vectors, emphasis on engineering ease practices crop improvements as well boost experimental timescales from years months.
