Drug
residues
have
been
detected
in
aquatic
environments
around
the
world
and
non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory
drugs
(NSAIDs)
are
one
of
most
used
classes.
Therefore,
it
is
important
to
verify
physiological
effects
these
products
on
exposed
non-target
organisms
such
as
fish.
Through
a
meta-analytic
review,
we
evaluated
NSAIDs
oxidative
stress
biomarkers
Overall,
Diclofenac
was
frequently
tested
drug
systematically
selected
studies
while
acute
hydric
exposure
types
were
prevalent
among
studies.
The
meta-analysis
revealed
that
(1)
chronic
subchronic
exposures
decreased
catalase
(CAT)
activity,
increased
glutathione
peroxidase
(GPx)
activity;
(2)
GPx
(3)
low
concentrations
superoxide
dismutase
(SOD)
(4)
Paracetamol
SOD
activity
lipid
peroxidation
levels,
but
reduced
S-transferase
(GST)
(5)
activity.
In
conclusion,
our
results
demonstrated
fish
sensitive
presenting
significant
alterations
biomarkers,
especially
enzyme.
This
enzyme
exhibits
strong
potential
biomarker
stood
out
NSAID
altered
largest
number
drawing
attention
its
risk
contrast,
ibuprofen
did
not
change
evaluated.
These
data
demonstrate
impact
emerging
contaminants
need
for
strategies
mitigate
effects.

emerging
contaminant

aquatic
ecosystems,
for
which
respective
documentary
review
was
carried
out
on
its
implications
biodiversity,
impact
and
affectation

organisms,
where
it
possible
show
that
even
low
concentrations,
causes
significant
alterations
biological
processes
addition
prolonged
exposure
negatively
affects
development,reproduction
survival
different
species,
among
fish,
gastropods,
bivalves,
crustaceans,
others,
stand
out,
are
critical
links
trophic
chains,
generating
deformities,
reduced
fertility,
increased
mortality.Likewise,
bioaccumulation
biomagnification
amplify
their
presence
at
higher
levels,
affecting
fauna
stability
ecosystem.
In
such
a
way,
these
impacts
compromise
altering
population
dynamics
reducing
capacity
ecosystems
provide
vital
ecological
services,
species
most
vulnerable
impacts.

why
strategies
regulation,
mitigation
treatment
wastewater
protect
integrity
highlighted.
