Abstract In this developing era, increased anthropogenic activities result in the contamination of natural resources. Different kinds pollutants threaten water quality being crucial for existence life. There are different sources and routes through which cause health consequences. This systematic review consists classification a particular focus on toxicological studies aquatic life, soil, plants humans with comparative account conservation technologies. study, various databases like Scopus, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Research Gate Web were used to find most relevant recent literature till September 2024. Studies selected based their classes pollutants, routes, cumulative effects remediation successfully managed classify found significant association between exposure disorders shown by life human health. is number evidence neurological disorders, reproductive endocrine disruptions. Organophosphate pesticides (OPs) enter the environment through various avenues, posing significant health risks. This highlights need to monitor OPs in food and environmental samples. study introduces an enzyme inhibition-mediated distance-based paper (EIDP) biosensor designed for naked-eye visual detection of We synthesized a copper alginate (Cu-Alg) hydrogel that traps water within gel restricts flow on pH paper. When incubated with acetylcholinesterase (AChE) acetylthiocholine (ATCh), activity AChE ATCh generates thiocholine, which interacts Cu2+ ions gel. interaction alters gel’s 3D structure, releasing trapped onto Conversely, when is exposed OPs, its inhibited, limiting from As result, are quantified by measuring reduction distance linear range 18 105 ng/mL, lower limit ng/mL. The EIDP exhibits high selectivity OP successfully analyzes pumpkin rice samples, achieving percent recoveries ranging 93% 103%. method offers straightforward, portable, instrument-free, cost-effective solution detecting

Environmental Toxicology and Ecology, Journal Year: 2025, Volume and Issue: 5(1), P. 51 - 59

Published: May 4, 2025
