The usage of face masks in various sectors healthcare facilities dates back to years ago. However, the utilization facial coverings experienced a rapid surge as result escalating rate COVID-19 infections witnessed across entire globe. This culminated an unparalleled inundation disposed within surrounding ecosystem. transforms mask from potent protectant into massive emerging solid plastic waste pollutant with long-term adverse effects on environment and human health. worldwide scale escalated immensely significant 129 billion per month at onset pandemic. Nanomaterial-based technologies have been integrated manufacturing chains increase performance provide antiviral characteristics. Nanotechnology encompasses multidisciplinary aspects including artificial intelligence, chemistry, biology, material science, physical medicine. Abridgment this review aims make discarded sustainable solution many environmental pollution. In addition, it culminates collaborative well-conducted trials, done for generating greener solutions intention that environment-friendly manner. Given preceding, purpose is discuss evolution sentinel pathogens pollutants over time, well comprehend effect biosphere, health, food chain, by developing scientifically validated strategies treat future.

Global food security, particularly in South Asia and low-income coastal regions like India, relies on seafood consumption, both fresh dried. Seafood, encompassing small pelagic fish, dried varieties, salt-cured absorbs xenobiotics micro/nanoplastics their associated contaminants during processing. This occurs due to factors such as processing conditions, the status of fish muscle biochemistry, additives used, presenting largely unexplored health risks that have received minimal study attention. investigates impact salting microplastics (MPs) contamination cured exploring intricate relationship between salting, MPs under controlled conditions. Commercial solar salt used for curing contained an average 40.72 ± 5.97 MPs/g. Microplastic abundance decreased significantly, from 65.7 6 3.36 1.5 items/g, with a lower salt-to-fish ratio 1:10. Characteristics morphotype, size, colour polymer type exhibited similar trends. Protein content showed strong negative correlation, while lipid correlation presence was weak. Various indices factor, load index induced risk emphasized salt's significant role enhancing posing safety consumers. Given limited number studies conducted comprehending uptake processed seafood, critical aspect safety, present aims illuminate interplay biochemistry microplastic characteristics. Additionally, it explores this dynamic, highlighting implications human health.
