Air cargo terminals serve as crucial hubs for the efficient movement of goods across domestic and international borders. In India, these come with many challenges, mainly attributed to extensive growth potential, diversity, infrastructure development. This study discusses challenges Indian air evaluates factors, aspects, criteria regarding problems under different conditions. Analytic Hierarchy Process multiple five factors is used better understand complex decision process. We analyzed utilization based on physical method, throughput capacity, economic capacity. Results show that developed methodology accurately forecasts terminal's demand.

We study a typical daily drayage problem concerning the last-mile logistics at seaports for inland container supply chains. A set of trucks available an terminal must fulfil shippers' requests transporting containers within time windows and, to do so, can perform multiple trips. request may entail picking up or delivering either premises, seaport. Demand empty be satisfied by using limited stock terminal, street-turning or, ultimately, retrieving them local depot empties resulting in extra mileage. Hence, minimization routing costs also entails synchronizing trucks' trips that retrieve and add avoid unnecessary visits depot. After modelling mathematically, we develop exact column-and-row generation approach embedded branch-and-price framework. To accelerate solving process pricing problem, propose effective strategies combining tailored algorithms. These well on adapted Solomon's instances 100 nodes against standard branch-and-cut solver. Finally, experiments real-world instances, inspired case Port Rotterdam region, provide insights into current planning practices.

Abstract Consider a freight forwarder who obtains cargo space from multiple carriers. Some capacities are reserved long term in advance through allotment contracts, while some booked on short‐term daily basis. A unified mathematical program for both short‐ and long‐term problems under uncertainties is proposed. Demands modeled using probability distribution as the stochastic program, whereas flight travel times belong to an uncertainty set robust optimization. In first stage, allotments determined. second shipment demand materializes but time still unknown, determines allocation among flights, given first‐stage allotment. The objective minimize expected total cost two stages. We derive closed‐form solution special case, propose heuristic general evaluate its performance via numerical experiments, whose historical records came one of largest Thai forwarders.
