From a brain processing perspective, the perception of creative thinking is rooted in underlying cognitive process, which facilitates exploring and cultivating novel avenues problem-solving strategies. However, it challenging to emulate intricate complexity how human presents way uncover unique solutions. One potential approach mitigate this incorporating cognition within evolving artificial intelligence systems associated neural models. Hopfield Neural Networks (HNN) are commonly acknowledged as simplified model, renowned for their biological plausibility store retrieve information, specifically patterns neurons. Therefore, we propose first time using HNN generate model that emulates specific processes based on generating meaningful links between seemingly disparate concepts.

Large Language Models (LLMs) are becoming increasingly integrated into our lives. Hence, it is important to understand the biases present in their outputs order avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes, which originate own flawed ways of thinking. This challenge requires developing new benchmarks and methods for quantifying affective semantic bias, keeping mind that LLMs act as psycho-social mirrors reflect views tendencies prevalent society. One such tendency has negative effects global phenomenon anxiety toward math STEM subjects. In this study, we introduce a novel application network science cognitive psychology towards fields from ChatGPT, GPT-3, GPT-3.5, GPT-4. Specifically, use behavioral forma mentis networks (BFMNs) how these frame disciplines relation other concepts. We data obtained by probing three language generation task previously been applied humans. Our findings indicate have perceptions fields, associating with concepts 6 cases out 10. observe significant differences across OpenAI’s models: newer versions (i.e., GPT-4) produce 5× semantically richer, more emotionally polarized fewer associations compared older N=159 high-school students. These suggest advances architecture may lead less biased models could even perhaps someday aid reducing stereotypes society rather than them.

The associative theory of creativity proposes that creative ideas result from connecting remotely related concepts in memory. Previous research found higher individuals exhibit a more flexible organization semantic memory, generate uncommon word associations, and judge remote as related. In this study (N = 93), we used fMRI to investigate brain regions involved judging the relatedness vary their distance, how such neural involvement relates individual differences creativity. Brain where activity increased with mainly overlapped default, control, salience, multiple demand networks. default control networks exhibited when evaluating associations. Finally, people, who provided judgements on average, lower those regions, possibly reflecting efficiency. We discuss these findings context neurocognitive processing underlying Overall, our indicate reflects cognitive mechanism shed light correlates mechanism.
