The main aim of this work is to validate the application a simplified performance-based method for assessing seismic performance steel buildings, focusing particularly on Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs) through nonlinear analyses. This defines capacity curve structure elastic and rigid-plastic analyses, calibrated by regression analyses conducted 420 structures. To assess its accuracy, was compared with other analytical approaches, including incremental dynamic (IDA) provided existing codes. These were performed both real structures simulated designs, considering recent older comparison results derived from code-based approaches IDA, aligned limit states outlined in current codes, showcased high reliability proposed assessment approach.

The ultra low-cycle fatigue fracture of open section steel members undergoing local buckling was experimentally investigated using rectangular clamped-free-clamped-free (CFCF) plates, validating a classic macro model (plastic-hinge-based damage model) and phenomenological micro (void growth model, or stress-weighted model). Finite element models were calibrated to the 3D-DIC experimental data further analyze mechanism, characterize stress triaxiality Load angle parameter during buckling.

This paper presents experimental and numerical investigations on the tensile performance of elliptical one-sided bolted joints in building applications. Two types are examined including T-stub T-hollow joints, where formed by two T-stubs connected together through bolts at their flanges; to a square hollow section (SHS) member with help bolts. A group ordinary is also comparatively studied. Similar failure modes were observed for either or while yield capacity was 9% lower than that joints. Parametric studies further carried out key parameters such as flange thickness wall members It found joint stiffness strength can be improved increase Analytical models based line mechanisms then presented, providing mechanism-based understanding structural assembly. Detailed finite element (FE) constructed considerations bolt pre-tensioning contact behaviours those between head. The deformed configurations specimens successfully described FE modelling differences initial results within about 10%.
